Practices are typically up to the coaches but this is what we can tell you! One 60 minute practice and 1 game per week. Teams available for ages 3-13, 3-6 will be T-Ball, 7 & 8 will be machine pitch and 9-13 will be kid pitch! T-Ball typically runs the month of May and Baseball runs the month of June into first week of July. Games will be played on Monday’s, Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s and Thursday’s. Any rainout games will be played on Saturday’s! Ages 3-6 will have a 8 game season and ages 7-13 will have a 8 game season.

Focus

Our focus is on our new 8 Core Values and fun! While basic skills of youth baseball and t-ball are developed through practices and games, every child learns sportsmanship and values necessary to be successful in life.

The Quincy Family YMCA has implemented 8 core values for our Youth Sports Leagues. This started in 2023 with our first sport, basketball, and it was a hit! Each week represented a core value. During practice and games, the coach(es) had to pick 1-2 players who exuded that core value. The player who was picked for that core value got to take home a yard sign and a medal to show off!

“The impact in which these 8 core values have had on the kids has been truly amazing to watch. It gives them something to play for and we get to teach future generations that sports isn’t just about being good or having talent.”

Sports are offered seasonally and vary by location. Please check back or at nearby locations if sport is currently unavailable.

Y Volunteer Coaching Opportunities

We’re seeking volunteers interested in coaching youth sports. Our coaches make YMCA youth sports possible and create a lifelong impact on children by encouraging participation and emphasizing sportsmanship and strong character. When you become a volunteer, the Y will introduce you to coaching and provide specific resources to the sport you coach. If your child is a player, getting involved at their practices can help them feel comfortable to practice with you outside of official practice time.

Quincy Family YMCA offers a 50% discount to any coach who has a child palying that sport! – It is only 50% for one child.

Y Coaching Benefits

Being a coach is a great way to improve your leadership skills. You will manage a team of children, often undisciplined at the start. Shaping them into a team that can win games will take a lot of effort and guidance. Bring out the best in them by understanding their personalities, giving them guidance and helping them grow to be healthier individuals. The impact you have on their lives will not only leave a sense of pride in you, but you will become a part of shaping their futures for the better.
