Fit To Fight Parkinson’s

We are learning every day that there are ways in which people with Parkinson’s Disease can enhance their daily quality of life and build power, strength, flexibility, and speed! Working with our Fit To Fight coaches, participants will work on balance, hand-eye coordination, and overall strength. One aspect of the Fit To Fight Parkinson’s Class is the implementation of the art of boxing. Boxing works by moving your body in all planes of motion while continuously changing the routine as you progress through the workout. Boxing has been proven within 3 months of participating in the program, to significantly ease both motor and non-motor symptoms in adults with early Parkinson’s Disease. Not only is this considered a Group Fitness class but a community of fighters as well.

Fit To Fight Cancer

Fit To Fight Cancer Survivors or Fighting is a program here at the YMCA that allows our Cancer Survivors or fighting in our community to focus on gaining strength, mobility and independence. This program is also an Evidence Based Practice Training. Participants will be guided by a certified personal trainer focusing on strength training, endurance, balance and overall well-being; required to take blood pressure & heart rate measurements before and after class. Other testing will be done to assess physical capabilities.

  • This class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am to 10:30am in the Wellness Center.
