The techniques of karate have application in self-defense situations and are taught as an art form to help students express their creativity, exercise self-expression, and gain an appreciation for the beauty and history of martial art movement. Students develop positive relationships and connections with their peers and instructors as they work together and help each other in perfecting their art form, mastering techniques, and preparing for promotions and presentations.
